Yaaron Mujhe Muaaf Rakho

Yaaron mujhe muaaf rakho, main nashe mein hoon
Ab jaam do to khali hi do, main nashe mein hoon

Friends you must excuse me, for I am intoxicated.
If you must, give me an empty glass, for I am intoxicated.

Ya haathon-haath lo mujhe maanind-e-Jaam-e-ma'ay
Ya thodi door saath chalo, main nashe mein hoon

Either take me hand-in-hand,  as you would a glass of wine
Or walk a little distance along me, for I am intoxicated

Mazoor hoon jo paa'on mera betarah pare
Tum sargara to mujhse na ho main nashe mein hoon

I beg your forgiveness if my feet should mis-step
You won't be angry with me, will you? for I am intoxicated.

Nazuk mizaaj aap, qayamat hain Mir-ji
Joon sheesha mere munh na lago, main nashe mein hoon

Delicate tempered you, an apocalypse to Mir-ji.
Don't touch my lips like a glass, for I am intoxicated.

Ik aik furt-e-daur men yoon hi mujhay bhi do
Jaam-e-sharaab pur na karo, main nashe mein hoon

In one of your intense rounds, pass me one too;
Yet don't fill that glass with wine, for I am intoxicated.

Masti se darhami hai meri guftagoo ke beech
Jo chaaho tum bhi mujh ko kaho, main nashe mein hoon

The joy has fraught confusion  in my speech
You too can tell me what you will, for I am intoxicated.

Bhaagi namaaz-e-jum'a to jaati nahin hai kuchh
Chalta hoon main bhi tuk to raho, main nashe mein hoon.

The prayers of Friday are not going running-away --
I'm coming too, just wait a while, for I am intoxicated.

Kya janey keh gaya hoon nashe mein khabar nahin
Mera na kuchh khayal karo, main nashe mein hoon

Who knows what I may have said in my state?
Don't pay any attention to me, for I am intoxicated.

Gham se zara najaat mili bekhudi mein aaj
Ab mera intazaar karo, main nashe main hoon

Got a little relief from sorrow, in being drunk today
Now you have to wait for me, for I am intoxicated.

(After tasting Divine Love, neither earthly wine, nor the kiss of the courtesan, nor the ritual of prayer has power to move one.)
